We’re looking for…

An enthusiastic and creative mid-weight designer & illustrator looking to stretch their skills across the creative spectrum.
Detail-focused? Keen to collaborate with like-minded creatives and develop your skills across a wide range of disciplines? A team player? Then we might be a good fit…

Who are we?

We’re a design-led content agency, creating bold brand content through illustration, animation, video, CGI and photography – so your work will be at the core of what we do.

Our clients see us as their content partners, bringing their brand to life in new ways. Those clients include ambitious start-ups, innovators such as Pineapple and Yoello, public service providers like Cardiff Council and international blue chip giants including Admiral.

THE ROLE:

Your role will involve working closely with our animation team, creating custom illustrations for animation projects; designing titles and infographics for our video projects; creating artwork for advertising campaigns and social media content, both for our clients and for us.

This isn’t a motion designer role, but an understanding of animation workflows and processes would be a plus.

Working alongside our lead designer, you’ll be involved in projects from brief to delivery. That means contributing meaningfully to campaign development throughout the creative process from taking briefs, to crafting concepts, to ensuring the punctual delivery of finished assets.

You’ll need:

  • great technical knowledge and to be highly skilled in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
  • a minimum of three years’ experience working as a designer in a similar role
  • the versatility to adapt and switch between visual styles based on client brands and project briefs
  • the ability to think outside the box for creative solutions that deliver strategic objectives

Nice-to-have’s:

  • knowledge/experience of animation workflows and processes
  • interest in storyboarding and visual storytelling
  • interest in scriptwriting
  • knowledge/experience of print design, including large-format for OOH

Being part of the Magenta team means:

  • being a team player as well as a self-starter, bringing ideas; being open to giving and receiving feedback on your and others’ work; and pitching in when required
  • being involved in the end-to-end creative process – so your creative solutions are strategic as well as knockout
  • helping each other and our clients out whenever we can

What you’re like to work with:

  • really enthusiastic, keen to get stuck into projects
  • able to manage your own deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • creative through and through, passionate about your craft
  • detail-focused for beautifully finished work and killer proofing
  • keen to grow and develop your skillset
  • a strong verbal as well as visual communicator
  • used to working within brand guidelines, maintaining brand identity and tone-of-voice while incorporating fresh ideas

Why work with us?

Our culture is really important to us and is built around our three core values:

We’re human first.

That means we’re the sort of team that brings heart and soul as well as talent to the table. We’re a genuinely people-centred business that welcomes the whole person to work each day and not just because it’s the right thing to do – we know it creates the best work and workplace.
It means we value our relationships with each other and our clients, so we work hard at them, with integrity and commitment, doing what we say when we say.

Creativity matters.

Creative is who we are as well as what we do.
Our craft is a passion that we pursue outside as well as inside work, exploring and experimenting and bringing all of that to the day-job.

Simple is good.

The route to simple is often challenging, but we think it’s always the one worth taking. So we pursue simple in everything: creative that simplifies the complex; relationships that make clients’ lives simpler and flexible work arrangements to make our colleagues’ lives simpler.

You’ll get:

  • a competitive starting salary of £24k-£27k with plenty of scope to increase as you develop
  • flexible, hybrid working with some time spent at our Cardiff Bay offices
  • 30 days’ holiday a year
  • third Friday of each month off (paid) – this is your wellbeing day
  • your birthday off (paid)
  • a friendly dog-friendly office with free-flowing, good tea and coffee
  • a super friendly, supportive team
  • regular socials

How to apply

You’ll probably have an HND qualification or above in design or illustration, but a strong portfolio and skillset are far more important for this role.

We’d love to see your work! Convince us you’re the right person for the job by sending us your portfolio, details about your previous experience and a covering letter.

All applications to be sent to info@studiomagenta.co.uk

Deadline for submissions: 15th May

We look forward to hearing from you!
